As the campaign signs sprang up around town, Wyoming High School senior Marley Manigault wondered how people would decide between the many candidates for Wyoming City Council and Board of Education. Although there were several events where residents could meet them, there wasn’t one separate resource collecting them all. She decided to create one, in the form of a Facebook page, titled “Wyoming Nov 2017 Elections.”

“I feel that making this page helps people to adapt to the new things that are going on, as well as new faces,” Manigault says in her introductory video. “This page will help us have that voice to have someone that will make the things we want possible.”

She reached out to the candidates and conducted a series of short interviews with as many as possible, posting each video on the page. In them, she asks each election hopeful to describe their aims and their qualifications, then poses open-ended questions such as, “What are the good things about Wyoming, and what things do you think need changing?” and “What are the top three checkmarks on your agenda?”

As of Nov. 6, Manigault had interviewed all eight of the School Board candidates, and half of the ten candidates for City Council. She says the project was “inspired by my senior Politics teacher, Mr. (Bo) Jesse.”

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7, and the polls are open from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm.The complete ballot can be found on the website of the Hamilton County Board of Elections.
