Seven new homes are under construction on Crescent Avenue at the site of the old UC Health Wyoming Family Practice building, complementing the flavor of the village while offering an opportunity for a “new home lifestyle.”

The homes are being constructed by Traditions Building & Development Group. Traditions, and its’ owner Tom Humes, have a long history in Wyoming. Humes’ family lived in Wyoming for over 30 years, and his children, who both hold leadership positions with the company, are graduates of the Wyoming school system. In addition, Tom Hinger, the president of Tradition’s homebuilding division, has lived in Wyoming for over 25 years.

“We [Humes and Hinger] both knew what a wonderful community Wyoming (is), with phenomenal schools and a true sense of community spirit,” Humes said. “We had long talked about a project in Wyoming, but of course, it was very difficult to find available land.”

When the old doctor’s office on Crescent became available, Humes and Traditions saw their opportunity, feeling that the location would be appealing with its unique walkability to schools, restaurants, shops, and parks. Negotiations to purchase the property were protracted. The property had been on the market for three years, and negotiations between Hume and the University of Cincinnati went on for nearly as long.

Traditions divided the property into seven lots. They were listed for nearly a year with no purchases, so the company decided to take a different approach. “We built a model home so people could better understand the unique opportunity for a ‘new home lifestyle’ in a classic older ‘village neighborhood,’” Humes said. “Once people saw the new home under construction, sales took off.”

The model opened when there was a tight real estate market and low interest rates. All seven home sites were sold within five months of the completion of the model. Prices ranged from $650,000 to $825,000 and the homes have 2,700–4,500 square feet of livable space.

When completed, seven families will get to experience our great community.

One of the first buyers to commit was Wyoming resident Amanda Setters. Setters had lived in a Victorian home on Grove since 2012, but was looking for more space and a more open floor plan than what could be found in an older home. She loved Wyoming and her neighbors and wanted to stay here. With kids in fifth and seventh grade, she liked that they would be able to walk to schools, parks, and shops. She appreciates the small yard, modern amenities, and two-car garage.

Chrys and Geoffrey Clark, formerly of Louisville, are one of four families moving into Wyoming from out of state. With jobs that allow them to work remotely, they are flexible with where they live and wanted something newer in a charming community with outstanding schools. Their buying situation was especially unique, as they bought their home virtually, never even seeing the model in person.

Once all of the homes are completed, the owners will consist of two Wyoming families, one from the Greater Cincinnati area, and four families from out of state.
