One of Wyoming’s signature annual events is coming up this weekend! The Wyoming Art Show is Sunday, May 21, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Worthington Avenue and at the Civic Center. Admission and parking are free. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy art and Wyoming’s beautiful tree-lined streets at the same time.
The Wyoming Art Show is one of southwestern Ohio/Greater Cincinnati’s premier juried art shows and competitions. For 36 years, it has annually attracted more than 125 of the finest artists from across seven states. Great music, distinctive food offerings, and free children’s art activities complement a well-balanced fine art show and sale.
The show is run by a group of longstanding community volunteers who are committed to the success of the show and exposure to the arts. “The show is about highlighting artists and exposing them to the Wyoming community and our visitors,” says Becky Miars, one of the volunteers. “Art makes a difference in the community and our quality of life. With the generous support of our volunteers and donors, we have continued to grow and do more and more for the community all year long.”
The Wyoming Art Show provided the sculpture outside of the Wyoming Public Library, as well as several murals along Wyoming Avenue and next to the Crescent Park Universally Accessible Playground. Art supplies have also been provided to Lockland City Schools and the Wyoming Recreation Center.
As a professional juried art show, the Wyoming Art Show typically presents almost $5,000 in professionally judged cash awards to exhibiting artists each year. However, the show also intentionally includes activities for students and young children.
“Every year we include kids with our imagination station and all its wonderful activities,” says Jeanie Zoller, another longtime Art Show volunteer. “Kids can design tee shirts, paint murals, and create chalk designs this year. Start young to enjoy creating and viewing art!”
