In honor of Black Poetry Day on October 17, Wyoming Community in Action (WCIA) held a special event featuring the spoken word on Saturday, Oct. 16.

At least 17 individuals read original poetry and published pieces to a crowd of roughly 100 guests. Wyoming Community Coffee (WyCoCo) hosted the event on the greenspace adjacent to their coffee shop. Guests were able to purchase drinks from WyCoCo as well as food from A Lil Taste of Soul, a local food truck. In addition, there was music from DJ Iaan Britton. WCIA plans to hold a community-wide book discussion this winter. Check the group’s website, wyomingcommunityinaction.com, for more information.
